WHAT UP
It's been a great week!!! Always happy. Stay happy children. You know
what I've realized? Being sad or mad is exhausting! Like, just be
happy! Cause it's so FUN TO BE HAPPY!!
So guess what I did this week?! PREACH THE GOSPEL OF COURSE!!! And I loved it.
It feels like the summer is just flying by. The kids here start school
on August 9. Crazy?! I'm used to starting it at like late August or
early September.
Well, last night we had a super awesome storm! It's monsoon season so
we're all super excited for that. The storm was like right above us
and the thunder was really loud. It started raining pretty hard but we
had to go inside. I wish I had maybe pictures or something but I
didn't take any. Just picture it. That'll have to do.
Sunday was super fun too!! So we got asked to do "sharing time" in
primary! And then we got to go share our testimonies for the high
priests on why we decided to serve a missionary and what makes us
happy about sharing the gospel.
Sharing time was so fun! 😂 we shared stuff about reverence. Played a
game where they had to spell the word reverence for the younger kids
(we made it super easy for them don't worry. I know some of them are
too young to be able to spell reverence) and then we played a hangman
type of game for the older kids. I had one kid wear my suit jacket and
it was the "quiet jacket" and they were like the leader and chose kids
to spell out the word and stuff. They had to be "quiet" while doing
it. Or in other words, they had to be reverent! It was HILARIOUS cause
it just drowned them 😂😂
Today we had SO MUCH fun! So in our mission, not sure if it's like
this in ever mission cause I mean I've only been to one... so...
anyways yeah. We got a van called the "silver bullet" and we took it
today (companion, me, and the two elders that we live with) and we
drove all the way to Globe! (Like 2 hours away). We decided to just
take a road trip because well, why not!! There's the towns "superior"
"Miami" and then "Globe" so we took tours in all those places. When we
were going through Miami and the roads there are so INSANE. They're
literally just hills. Nothing sketchy. Just super fun! The towns are
super small and all rustic. I'll send all the pictures! We took some
awesome looking pictures with the van.
A record of Brett Hepworth's experiences in Arizona as he serves for 2 years. Elder Hepworth is from Pocatello, Idaho, and was called to Arizona, Mesa, Spanish Speaking, as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

07/10/17 - BAPTISM
WHAT UP FAM AND FRINS
This week was GREAT!
I've got a few stories for you!
First:
Well, we had an exchange. I think I already told you about them. While
we were on exchanges (I wasn't in my area for the exchange) my actual
companion and the elder he was with found like 3 new investigators.
Well, one of them is named LUPE and well when we finished exchanges
the next day, we had a lesson planned with him. The lesson fell
through, but the funny thing is that the next morning we went on a run
and when we were coming back we saw all of the people mowing the lawn
and all that fun stuff. Well, one of the guys mowing the lawn was LUPE
and we were like whaaaaat what's up LUPPEEEEE! Hahaha it was funny.
Just didn't expect to see him mowing our complexes lawn.
Second:
Yesterday we went to go visit an investigador. It was last night after
dinner. Well, as we walked up to the door, we noticed that there was a
full blown mariachi band inside playing for the family 😂😂 we didn't
dare knock. We were like we can't interrupt that that's super rude. So
we took a video instead! I'll send it to you 😊
Third:
We had a baptism!!!! Her name is Lucia Ledesma. I am so happy for her
🤗🤗 she had been going to church for 30 years before being baptized.
How insane right!!!! She's so sweet and always makes jokes with us 😂
I've learned a few Hispanic jokes from her 😂
I had the opportunity to baptize her and then a young member who
always helps her get to church and has helped her a lot was the one
who confirmed her. This is just super exciting guys are you you happy
cause I'm happy!! Also, there's these other investigators that we have
that literally are just dry Mormons (meaning: people who act like
Mormons but haven't been baptized.) they've changed their beliefs
completely, they go to church every week, they teach their kids the
gospel, and all that. And she told us!!! (Because she has a boyfriend)
that she wants to get married and baptized on the same day! (We call
that a waptism) and I was like HECK YEAH THAT WOULD BE LEGIT! I want
to be a part of a waptism. Haha. Yeahhhh. That was just a little side
note....
anyways...
Fourth:
So yesterday, when we got home from church we did our studies. (We got
lazy in the morning so didn't get to studies. Super bad I know. Don't
judge. 😂) so, we did our personal study and after that we were going
to do our companionship study. Well sometimes we do our companionship
study in our room and we just sit on our beds. So, we decided to do
that this time! Well before starting I just laid down for a bit cause
I was like super exhausted. Well.... we both fell asleep!!! We felt
asleep for a little bit and woke up at 5:06 and we were like oh my
gosh we have a dinner appointment like 5 minutes ago!!! So we just
hurried out and went to dinner. Well, while we were driving there
Elder Gull saw that he had marks on the side of his face from his
pillow and whatnot. And he was like, oh my gosh I don't even know what
to do! I can't go to dinner like this that's so embarrassing! AND
they're totally going to know that we were sleeping! We can't let the
sister missionaries know that! (We almost always eat dinner with the
sister missionary because we cover the same ward.) So while we were
driving I was just laughing and he was trying to get the marks to go
away. When we went to dinner he still had the marks. We walk in and he
immediately was like, "voy a ir al baño". So he went to the bathroom
to try to do something 😂😂 he was like, "I'm just going to walk in
looking at them sideways" 😂😂 well we showed up like 20 minutes late,
but it was okay because they hadn't even started eating by the time we
showed up and nobody asked questions and we got away free.
Lesson: be obedient kids!!
Also a side story: we were helping out the bishops wife with some
service and she offered to make us breakfast. She asked us if we were
allergic to wheat. We all said no, except my companion! He didn't hear
the question so he just went along with what was happening and so for
awhile the bishops wife thought he was allergic to wheat 😂😂 he
somehow got out of that situation. I was on exchanges
when he cleared up that problem 😂 but yeah just a funny little side story.
Well, that's all I got this week! I hope you enjoy! Love you all and
have a fantastic week.

07/03/17 - TEMPLE TRIP
¡Feliz dÃa de preparación! Oh wait... that's not a thing for you
guys.... what a shame!
Well, yeah so it's P-day! Sorry it took so long to get here. Today is
our temple day so it got switched around. But, that's okay because I
love EVERYDAY not just p days!
So this week was really fun! I went on a couple of exchanges. One, was
obviously with the District Leader. And he is in a BIKE AREA! Nah,
it's really not that bad. But it is super hot! It was like 111
yesterday. It's actually bearable, but it's funny because the wind is
even hot, and it feels like a blow dryer 😂 it's still like 101
degrees at 10:00 at night too. The mornings are like 80 and it feels
so good 😛 ... but yeah anyways, so I was on bike for a while! It's
fun while you're out riding, but then you go into an investigators
house or a members house and you just start sweating like no other!
It's kind of awkward cause your hands get all sticky and the sweat is
visible on your arms and face and I bet all the members are like...
ew. 😂😂😂 oh and you can BET that your butt will be sweaty. So you
know what's the worst?! Leather couches!!!! It's always a danger zone
to stand up after sitting on that. There's technique to it HAHAHA
😂😂😂😂
When I was with my district leader he taught me a lot! He is a BEAST
at talking to people on the street. When you're in car you don't get
as many opportunities to talk to people because you can't just stop on
the side of the road and talk. But, when you're on bike, you have a
million chances!! So that was different. And awesome!
The second exchange I went on was just because my companion needed to
go on an exchange with the district leader. So, I was with the
district leaders companion. He's a fun guy! He just doesn't care what
people think. Whatsoever. And the exchange was yesterday on the Fourth
Of July! Oh yeah... happy fourth everyone! We didn't get to stay out
on the fourth. But, we did pass by a party for a few minutes and talk
to a few people. And they were lighting off huge fireworks and all
sorts of them, so I enjoyed that while we were there 😊 I had a little
mini firework show I guess you can say haha. And the actual fireworks
show was literally SO CLOSE to where I live! But I'm consecrated guys.
Oh... it's been 10 months? Crazy! El tiempo vuela 😄
You know... how can someone NOT like a mission?! They're so fun. And
it's weird cause I can't imagine going home or my life before 😂 is
that like some kind of block or something? 😉 it's a short two years.
Got to make it the best!
Well, that's it for my weird comments of the week! Love y'all and
HAPPY FOURTH... OR FIFTH I GUESS
