12/26/2016 - MERRY CHRISTMAS!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Dec. 19 - another p-day. Today we went to "Krazy Air", which is a trampoline park. IT WAS LEGIT! I acted like a five year old. Fantastic stuff. There's a trampoline park in Idaho Falls that my family always went to. This trampoline park is a lot bigger and has a lot more stuff to do. Yeah and after that we went to choir practice because we are singing at the Visitors Center on Christmas Day. We gon sound so GOOD. Then we emailed and did all other jazz. Oh, wait actually we went to breakfast at someone's house and she fed us "menudo". Do you know what friggin menudo is?! ITS COW INTESTINE. Personally I don't like it

Dec. 20 - today we had district meeting. We haven't had it in a while because we have had so many other meetings throughout the weeks! Elder Austin and I gave a duo training. FIND WITH FAITH, FELLAS. After that we went to the mission office because Elder a Familia, de nuevo, left his bag somewhere. After that we went to lunch with some Spanish elders that were at the office as well. We went to "Orchard Eats". It was dannngg GOOD, and missionaries get 1/2 off. That's wassup. We also had to go get our front right tire fixed because it had a nail in it πŸ˜‚ we've been driving with it like that for like a week or more. Whoops. 😬

Dec. 22 - today we had service at AJ Food Bank. We've been there a few times on occasion. Today we sorted a whole bunch of potatoes! I was like... THIS IS HOME. πŸ˜‚ so it's kinda hard to find people who wanna talk at this time of year! We've had a couple people tell us to come back after the festivities. Like.. what we gonna do until then?! Today was really just a regular day. Ok but the Spanish is getting so much easier! Today during dinner we got there a little early and the family was still cooking and so we were just having a conversation and it wasn't too hard. It was like I was having a conversation in English. But I mean there were still words and sentences here and there that I didn't quite understand, obviously haha. But yeah other than that it was just a chill day! Although, I will have to send you guys the picture of somebody's mailbox as a toilet that we encountered while finding a referral. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Dec. 23 - Wow Derick was right. We give a lot of blessings! I mean hey, it's not a problem! Talking to people in Spanish is so much easier now. It makes me so much less stressed. Today was just a regular day. We did weekly planning today. Oh!!! But the Hermanas that are over our branch with us are having a baptism tomorrow!! YUS

Dec. 24 - Christmas Eve!! I honestly kept forgetting that it was Christmas Eve. It came too fast, and it's just not the same as a missionary πŸ˜‚ so we did a white elephant gift exchange as a district at the Deller's house (senior missionaries). I just got a bunch of candy, which I'm not complaining about πŸ˜‚ we also ate Chimichangas! They was dang goooooood. We chilled for a couple of hours, and then went to Hermana Elba's house to eat dinner. OH MY FOOD. She feeds us good but like dang I could not each as much as they wanted me too. AND THEN, she had us take some home!! They had these "pasteles" things that are a type of food from Puerto Rico. It has a whole bunch of ingredients in it I don't even know, but it look likes diarrea. I started eating it and I was like oh ok this isn't too bad! I can totally eat this whole thing. I got halfway through and I was like wow ok I'm done with this but I need to finish I can't be rude. So, when I took my last bite my body was seriously so done and I had to gag it down. I legit gagged I couldn't do it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ and then they had some funky cat fish or cod fish stuff that I refused to try. I don't like fish. But I mean everything else was great!! I was literally so full. Totally worth it tho πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Dec. 25 - CHRISTMAS!! It doesn't even feel like Christmas to be honest. We spent our companionship study opening presents πŸ˜‚ I got this BOMB iPad case from my mom!! It's so legit. I got other stuff, which I really didn't expect. Thanks Mom!! After church we went to a members house and Skype our families. It was the best! After that we went to the Visitors Center and performed for Mesa! The whole mission that wanted to sing, sang tonight. We sang like 5 different songs. Then we came back and caroled for the Deller's. It was a solid day!! Feliz Navidad everyone!

12/19/2016 - Pictures with Santa

Dec. 12 - today was another p day and we went to the mall! Elder Snarr wanted to look for a new suit and elder Austin and I wanted new ties. I got this BOMBBB floral tie!!! Also, one thing that was like the best thing of my life is that we got to take pictures with Santa!! All four of us did. And tonight we had a miracle. A guy that we met at one of the church buildings found some Spanish people for us to teach. They are like golden. The husband of the family said that our message is just something that they need in their lives. I was like FREAK YEAH IT IS BE BAPTIZED THNX. Hopefully it actually goes through though.

Dec. 13 - today we had ZTM. it was actually pretty good! Maybe I need to shape up on some things πŸ˜‚ also, we had some service at 2:30. And during it we were talking to the lady we were doing service for (one of our investigators) and it turns out that she is an ex super star! Like literally she's got CD's and she performed and all that jazz. WHO KNEW!! To ZTM we rode in the "silver bullet". The silver bullet is a huge van that we use for transfers o lo que sea. I felt like a little kid going on a field trip because we had a bunch of elders in there and the scene was just like a field trip. We had ZTM in a church building, which is literally the smallest church building I have ever seen in my life. There's literally like 4 rows of benches for the chapel and then the overflow started πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ it was kind of hilarious honestly.

Dec. 14 - so today was literally just typical. But I got to say that I love being a missionary! You have some crazy and weird experiences πŸ˜‚also, what I find really funny is when people ask my if I work at the store (when we're shopping on P Days). Literally I've been asked that like 20 times since I've been out. Every time a person will ask me where something is and I'm like honey I don't know πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ but then I'm like, "BUT I SURE DO KNOW WHERE THE BOOKS ARE, oh wait, I have on here. It's called the Book of Mormon! Ever heard of it?!"

Dec. 17 - wow. Regular day. My patience is increasing as well πŸ˜‚ my energy as well. Spanish is getting there. Sometimes I find it hard to process English words in my head now. Like I had to think about how to spell "motivation" tonight. Also this week I got Facebook. Not sure how much I like it. I feel like I'm not really on a mission.. ya know? Pero lo que sea. ANYTHING FOR THR LORD!!!

Dec. 18 - today was legit!! K, so this morning Elder Familia and I needed to do exchanges because we had a meeting and a lesson with some investigators. So I went with a member to the lesson, and Elder Familia went with someone else. I literally went by myself to a lesson. LITERALLY HAD TO DO IT ON MY OWN. If it was in English I would've been like oh yeah bring it on. But no it was in Spanish. Which really I'm not complaining about. It was just that I was a little scared because my Spanish isn't that great and I had members with me that weren't going to do anything except follow my lead. But, you wouldn't believe how well the lesson went. It was awesome!! Then after church, right before dinner, we were driving around kind of aimlessly like dang where should we go now we don't have anywhere to go. AND THEN, I just decided to turn onto a road and park there so I didn't need to waste gas and miles while we were looking. Well, it happened to be the perfect street to turn on. Totally guided by the spirit. Because on that street lives a family where a former investigator of ours used to live. We have visited them once before on like the third of a December and for some reason we like completely forgot about them. Yeah I know we're terrible missionaries I don't know how that happened. Well I guess that's why the spirit led us there!! So anyways, when we turned onto the street Elder Familia recognized the street and then so did I and we were like, well hot dang let's visit this family!! So we parked and when we walked over the Dad was sitting outside. It was perfect! We talked to him and all that stuff and he said he's going to church next week!! The wife was busy but she said she'd love to hear us another time.

12/12/2016 - Stay Worthy of the Spirit and He will Guide You

Dec 6. - today was a solid day! I had more energy and I spoke more Spanish and I learned more. I feel like I get to points where I learn so much Spanish, then I plateau, then I learn so much more, then I plateau. Buuuuut, it's all getting there. So I'll write today's happenings in Spanish....
Soy terrible a voleibol. Yo no me gusta voleibol mucho. Vine en una misiΓ³n para predicar no para jugar voleibol or otros deportesπŸ˜‚ y un niΓ±o, llamado Hyrum, estaba enojado a mΓ y a otras personas porque no somos buenos πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Dec. 7 - today we did exchanges! I went with Elder Snarr into his area. It was a solid day!! Elder Snarr had a rough time today πŸ˜‚ each house we went to he did something embarrassing πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ at the first, we were talking about the resurrection and how we'll look like. The old guy who was present showed a picture of him and his wife when they were newly married, and said that they'll look like that again. In the picture the old guy (brother Murphy) was not smiling. The children asked, "WHY IS HE NOT SMILING" and Elder Snarr said, "because he got a mother in law that day" πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ i think sister Murphy was mad. Whoops! And then at the next house, elder Snarr said that a little child was a boy when it was actually a girl. And then at the next house, we were going to walk outside and Elder Snarr walks into a room thinking it led outside, and THEN!! We were eating outside and he spills his drink all over the table. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Dec. 9 - well, today was weekly planning day! And we didn't even get to it πŸ˜’ terrible missionary!! We started weekly planning and then we realized that our dinner was at 3:30, not 5 like usual. So we went to the house and they weren't even home! And so we came back to our apartment to continue planning, and then we got a call to come back because we were going to eat!! So we went back and we ended up just having pizza that we took to the chapel to eat because the person had an emergency. It was a problem tho! And then when we were done eating we had an appt. and then we went to another house after that and we talked for a while and THEN we came back home LATE. But man, I'm always tired.

Dec. 11 - alright today was an alright day. Like earlier in the day was poop, but then tonight was pretty good! Earlier today at church Elder Familia and I had to teach priesthood. Well, ELDER FAMILIA had to teach priesthood. I just stood there and looked pretty. It was embarrassing to be honest because I hardly said anything. Like 5 words total. I had a hard time understanding people. Then, we had to bless the sacrament which was good stuff. We also sang for the intermediate hymn! All us missionaries (the 5 of us) sang "Venid, adoremos". It was legit just saying πŸ˜‰ then we had dinner, which was really early. And we had some bomb taco things. One of them that I got was filled with ChicharrΓ³n (pork fat). It was a gross texture so I lowkey choked it down. The others were filled with carne roja y frijoles though so those were good. We have some strange food here sometimes guys. At dinner I couldn't understand the Spanish very well. HOW DISAPPOINTING RIGHT?! Missions are hard people. It's not always butterflies and sunshine on a beach during a warm summer day, my friends. BUT, it's still the best. But then tonight we got a referral and had a dang good lesson.

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT: So, this thought might not apply to everyone. But the people who are thinking about and preparing for missions it can benefit. But it's about missionary work and the struggle it can be. During dinner a couple days ago I was talking with the Hermanas that serve with us. And Hermana McGee has also been learning Spanish. She's been out a little bit longer than me so she was giving me some tips and sharing stories about how it's rough and what I can do better. Well, she told me something that the mission president told her. It's like a slap in the face. I don't remember the exact words, but it was basically that you're worrying too much about yourself. Basically, it was like, do you really have faith? Because even if you can't speak the language the spirit is the teacher. And the lord is on your side because he wants the same thing you do for these people. Now this can also apply for everyone. Not just people who are learning a language. Teaching in your native language is pretty hard as well!! I've done both English and Spanish it's hard stuff. But, the key is to stop worrying about yourself. Don't worry about if you're going to look dumb! Don't worry about not knowing what to say! We are promised that as we open our mouths hey will be filled with the words to say. Stay worthy of the spirit and he will guide you.
