02/27/2017

¡Hola! ¿CΓ³mo estΓ‘n todos?

So, one of the things that they changed up on the missionary schedule, is that we have. "Zone conferences" every single transfer now. That means 6 hour meetings every month πŸ™ƒ I mean I learn a ton! But I don't think anyone is a fan of sitting on your butt for 6 hours straight. But hey! At least they give us lunch. That's like my favorite part. Kinda like how my favorite subject in school was LUNCH. For this zone conference that we just had on Friday, we had to prepare a 3-5 minute talk on REPENTANCE. And then they were going to choose 3 people out of the two zones that were there to give their talks that they wrote. Pfft. BRING IT ON PRESIDENT. Yeah, well that's what I thought until I GOT CALLED ON. Really wasn't that bad. But still was like wow out of all the people here I'm one of the 3 that got chosen. honored???

So, one of the things that I've realized since I've been out on a mission, is that I don't know as much about the gospel/scriptures as I thought!! I mean it's not a problem, cause it is that way with a lot of missionaries. You just learn as you go. It's obvious that the older missionaries are going to know a ton more. But it was actually kinda funny. I was like wow... I don't know JACK πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I thought I was all smart and stuff. Humility???

So this week was similar to all the others. Just the missionary life! Except, we went to superior!! So, my area is massive. It goes all the way out 1 1/2 to Globe. Superior is on your way to Globe. It's this tiny little town in the middle of nowhere and it's lowkey sketchy creepy at night. Well, we went over there to see if we could find some former investigators. We did find some! But we also decided to have some fun in the town. It kind of reminded me of AF, except Superior is like two times smaller than that even. When we were over there we almost got eaten by this massive dog, there was another dog that was barking at us while running in circles πŸ˜‚, and we found this awesome gazebo! And this nasty looking dentists office that nobody would feel comfortable going to. Luckily it's for rent. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ there was also this awesome mural on the wall next to the gazebo that was all Hispanic and stuff and it was so legit. I'll send out the pictures I got. We actually got a return appointment with a guy there in Superior, and of course, we came back... AND WE WASNT THERE. That's okay though. Too bad Superior is too far away to go there often. Not sure if all of you knew this, but we have a limit on our miles. So we have to be careful with where we go. Sooooo that's why we can't go to Superior often. Obedience???

So for this weeks spiritual thought, I want to invite you all to look at the Christlike attribute activity in chapter 6 of preach my gospel. It makes you truly realize how much you need to improve πŸ˜‚ and non of you have a good enough excuse not to do it, because you all have smartphones and Preach My Gospel is on the Gospel Library. Don't give an excuse, I've heard all of them that have ever been.

We were waiting for dinner one night and we found this disgustingly
hilarious hand claw thing πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

This made me laugh πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ for those who can't read it says, " welcome to
your poor house, that neither is poor nor is your house". It's on the
wall of this pretty nice home Hahahah

For dinner on Saturday... we went to a wedding!!! Hispanic music is my
favorite.

And then I found these pretty legit, but dirty, glasses in the Family
History Center and so I decided to put them on. Cause why not??

02/20/2017 - GOLDEN CONTACTS

this week was crazy fast! Well, every week goes by crazy fast. I cannot believe that I am still in my first area on the mission πŸ˜‚ I thought that this last week I was going to leave. But nope! Still here in good ol Apache Junction 🀘🏾
So Elder Miller and I have been having some great success here! We've found some awesome people. We have a couple named Jessi and Carlos. They're like golden. They are so willing to do things! And they do them! This last week we had a lesson with them (we were on exchanges as well, and the companion I was with didn't speak Spanish at all. So props to me). We've already asked them if they would like to be baptized and they said yeah maybe one day a little bit more in the future. Since we've asked them that, we've had quite a few lessons with them. So, this last lesson I asked them what they felt about baptism. Like, if they were wanting to. THEY SAID YES!!! Then, I asked if they've been praying to Heavenly Father to find these truths out for themselves. They said yes, every night we pray!! Then, I asked them how the felt about them (since they've been praying every night). They said that they feel good and they believe it!! YUS. I'm just really pumped about this cause they're like one of the first people to actually do stuff.
We have some other investigators that seem promising as well. They have such a cool yard! They're so rustic. They don't like to be indoors watching tv or anything. So they're always outside working. Their house is all decked out with things. It's pretty legit. In one part of their yard they created a bar. I mean, the whole "bar" thing isn't that cool, but it looks cool! HahaπŸ˜‚ they have so many animals also. Like they have two pet tortoises, a bunch of horses, goats, chickens, ponies, and dogs. They're living the life! They also kinda live out in the middle of nowhere. Kinda like my family! πŸ’πŸΎ‍♂️ (p.s. I hope to come home to a pasture full of goats.)
My Spanish is on FUEGO. I've learned soooo much since I've been here, in just a short amount of time! The gift of tongues is real, guys. I've seen it so many times on my mission where I've needed it, prayed my little heart out for it, and received it!
Oh I have another story! So when we were on exchanges this week (same day as with Jessi and Carlos), we went to a persons house (ha go figure) and we were just talking through the door. We talked about so many things (in Spanish) and she talked about these two older guys coming over to give her little daughter a blessing because she has asthma. Since the blessing her daughter has been fine, except for one time during New Years (I believe that's the time frame she said). But everything is fine now and her daughter is all good. She's actually great! And I was like yus girl that's the power of the priesthood right there. Church is true. Amen. And then I dropped the microphone and walked out of there like a thug like that's wassup. Jk.
On Saturday we did a service project at an investigators house of the sister missionaries. The service was filling in a few retaining walls with dirt in her back yard. I was like, HMMMMM THIS SEEMS A LITTLE TOO FAMILIAR TO ME. I FEEL LIKE I MUSTVE HAVE DONE SOMETHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. MAYBE... MY WHOLE CHILDHOOD????? Except the difference was is that she didn't have a freaking backhoe or skid loader. I was like... man... shovels and wheelbarrows really stink. Blisters? What's a blister? I like those machines better, where I can sit down and just move my arms and maybe my feet a little πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰ but hey, we got fed pancakes and bacon when we were done. So, I was like eh.. worth it πŸ˜‰ ok but on a side note, that lady is like rich. She was building a spa in the back yard and some other stuff. Her house is huge and gorgeous! We told her to invite us over when it's finished πŸ˜‚

Well, that was my week! I hope your guys' went well! Love you all

02/06/2017 - My Spanish is Getting So Much Better

Hey everyone!!

How are you all?! I'm pretty dang great down here in Arizona! For
those of you who hate cold weather, it's warming up down here! (Not
that it really cooled down) It's around 60-70 degrees. I win πŸ˜‰
So this week, I honestly don't even know what happened. It went by so
fast! Did I talk about the schedule change last week? I like it! We
have a lot more freedom and choice to fix our schedule to our needs.
Although, we only have 30 minute lunches. Did you know that?! I
basically have to inhale my food!! No jk πŸ˜‚ it's all good. More time
to talk about Jesus with those extra thirty minutes πŸ’πŸΎ‍♂️
So for p days here we usually go hiking or to some fun place like
"crazy air" (trampoline park). Today we went to Crazy air with a bunch
of other missionaries. We invaded the place. It was legit.
So, my companion and I are doing really well out here in Apache
Junction! We've found so many people and we have so many people who
want to here what we have to say. We have finally found people who are
actually progressing!!! For the first three months we struggled so
much, but now it's just poppin.
My Spanish is getting soooo much better! Its not hard to talk to
people now, and it's so much easier and less stress to teach people,
and to talk to them on the streets. OOH AND ON THE PHONE!! Oh my
goodness it's still a little rough sometimes though. That's probably
the hardest thing! What's really funny and sometimes awkward is when
somebody says something to you and you don't understand it, and so you
ask them to say it again, and they say it again... AND YOU STILL DONT
UNDERSTAND πŸ˜‚ you just kinda stand there awkwardly, looking around
like well... what now? πŸ˜‚

Have a wonderful week everyone! Love you all

02/13/2017- Quit Worrying about Yourself and Get to Work

WHATS GOOD

It's so crazy it's already been another week! These week are like days
and the days like a few hours. I've almost been out for 6 months as
well! What the heck?! I swear I came out like yesterday. Enjoy moment
you have, because life flies by.
So we've come to the end of another transfer! I'm still in the same
area, and I still have the same companion. Got not changes this
transfer! I almost guarantee that after this next transfer, I'll be
leaving. I've been her a while! That's okay though, I love it here.
Our area is starting to pick up. We have some genuine people who want
to listen to us and actually do what we ask 😩😩🀘🏾 YUS!!! We have
been able to set up multiple appointments will all of our
investigators. The only struggle is them keeping the commitments.
Which... is a pretty big problem πŸ˜‚ there's only family we have that
are soooooo sweet and genuinely want to learn and know.
This last Sunday us missionaries in the branch I'm over, gave talks.
It was legit! I talked about tithing. It definitely was a lot less
scary than the last time I talked, because I couldn't speak Spanish
very well back then. But now it's a lot easier and giving that talk
was a ton less scary!! Talking in front of people is a lot less scary.
I was a little wuss before and got so scared to talk in front of
people. The thing is, what is there to worry about? In missionary
work, you shouldn't be worrying about yourself. Quit worrying about
yourself and get to work. If you're terrified to talk in front of
people (which you have to do every day) you're worrying too much about
yourself.
Well everyone, enjoy your week! Love you all and be safe! I hear it's
flooding back home? Shoot man
